Matt grew up in the South Hams, started his career in Devon and then spent ten years working in top hotels and restaurants including Scotts of Mayfair and fish restaurant Livebait as head chef.
At Waterside Bistro we believe in sourcing the freshest, finest foods. Matt strives to source and build relationships with local suppliers to find the best Devon has to offer and bring them to the table at a sensible price. Matt is enormously committed to protecting and nurturing the local economy, whilst preserving our countryside and heritage. Our local suppliers, whom we now know really well, enjoy dining with us and tasting their own products on our menu.
Waterside Bistro is a proud member of Food & Drink Devon, a unique, not for profit organisation whose producer, hospitality, retail and catering businesses have to meet a set of qualification criteria in order to join and use their logo.
This means meeting quality and ethical trading standards and demonstrating environmental care in the way we run our business. Waterside Bistro is proud to be a member of the Recycle Devon refill scheme, offering free tap water refills to anyone who pops in and asks. All straws used are biodegradable while glass, cardboard, plastic and metal is recycled.
Waterside Bistro is also a proud member of the Living Wage Foundation.
Over the years we have built up a network of excellent local suppliers
who provide us with delicious, high quality food and drink.
